Here is an easy one Thanks, roland some people spend their entire life trying to make a difference, us marines don't have that problem My tranny gasket was about gone so i replaced it
I dropped the pan, changed the filter and gasket and then replaced the pan Div.,fpc2, 27n130391 these are exactly as inscribed on tranny I put four qaurts dextron/mercron iii tranny fluid into it
Started motor, let it get hot, shifted through all gears and checked the fluid level.
Read that on one of the oil analysis data links here somewhere I use mobil 1 because the synthetics take the heat better, i'm sure amsoil is similar Basically, if the tranny fluid swap doesn't increase your performance, might as well go for longevity instead. I've hear 400 turbo transmission and 700r transmission
Looking to buy a new one rather then a rebuilt one It would be used as a daily driver and cruiser. The tranny is marked as Last time i left the transmission in the car, which was a little difficult to line up with the transmission (oilpan clearing the crossmember and flexplate clearing the bellhousing)
But i was able to leave the driveshaft, cooler lines, shifter cable all attached, loosened the trans mount and placed a jack under the trans (with wood blocking to spread the load).i have a plastic transmission.
This tranny is about 1 1/2 years old and probably doesn't have 1500 miles on the rebuild It is an '89 model I had it completely gone thru with the typical extra clutch packs, corvette servo, new reaction shield (?) and a transgo shift kit, etc It was built by the highest regarded.
I have a b&m 400 trans in my car It was from another project and has about 200 miles on it After 15 years i have it in my car It is pretty much empty
How much fluid does it hold
And how much should i put in for start up. Since the trannny is new, and it's got new fluid in it, it was so clean that i couldn't tell if it was full or not on the dipstick, so i overfilled it by about a quart (or maybe a more). Didnt recall a vacuum line to the tranny 700r4 should have a governor with springs/weights on it that control the shifting
It uses centrifugal force to decide when the shift occurs and springs help determine the firmness of the shift i believe.
