I have also been known to spot in a little silver/chrome paint in a small area where chrome is missing,then kind of feather back into the edges of the spot,with the sos pad taking the overpray off the actual.

Sos pads will scratch the hell out of the plating, as will course steel wool.and using the wrong scotch brite pad will do the same especially if any real pressure is used From my old stock of whestleys , main ingredient ,tri sodium phosphate ( tsp) they removed it in the new formula ( replaced with sodium meta silicate ) , and the store tsp is not true tsp its its edta and sodium meta silicate , i clean tires with a sos pad as there is caustic in the soap and it cleans them good.
